Moshito's Story

Over 90 international delegates and artists have attended Moshito in the last 3 years, comprising of music practioners, musicians and bands, festival promoters, print and radio journalists/presenters, bloggers as well as the International Music Managers Forum.

  • 2017 Moshito 2017 Conference

    Moshito 2017 took place on 6-9 September 2017 at Newtown Music Factory (former Bassline) under the theme ‘The Rhythms of the Ancients’.

    Following on our tradition of theming each year’s conference, the theme looked and remembered those musicians who have created music that find resonance in ancient rhythms and indigenous sounds that made African music.   • Moshito 2018 took place on 5-8 September 2018 at Newtown Music Factory (former Bassline) under the theme ‘Long Walk to Music: Be the Legacy’. This year’s conference recognized the centenary celebration of Nelson Mandela under the theme Long Walk to Music. Moshito ambassadors are Julian Bahula of Malombo legacy with struggle credentials and who was in the forefront of using music as a liberating tool during his exiled years in the United Kingdom. The second young ambassador is Moonchild, a young artist that is fast becoming our country’s cultural export and is currently touring the world with her eclectic style of music. View More
  • The three-day music events including 3 concerts, 2 Day showcases, and one Street Festival ensured delegates take in the sounds of the world. Kicking things off will be the Moshito Afro World Night Concert Powered by BET on 5th September at the Market Theatre, followed by the MTV Base Showcase youth @ Moshito on 6th September and closing off the festivities was the Moshito signature Free Street Festival on 7th September at Newtown Junction, Johannesburg.
